February 14, 1984. At 02:00, the six-man crew of Kunlun High-Altitude Station 04 sealed themselves inside a snowcat and evacuated into a Category Five blizzard. The station was dark, empty, and powered down. At 02:13, Base Camp began receiving hand-keyed Morse code — from inside the station. The operator recognized the rhythm instantly. It belonged to radio operator Lin Weiguo, who was sitting in the snowcat at the time. The message wasn't a call for help. It was a temperature reading no room on Earth could reach. And then three words, repeated nineteen times. This file reconstructs the logbook, the radio tape, and the recovery report. ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 The Last Transmission 0:54 Chapter 1 — The Roof of the World 3:34 Chapter 2 — The Logbook & the 13-Minute Gap 6:33 Chapter 3 — The Decoding & the Audio Track 9:30 Chapter 4 — Recovery 12:03 File Sealed 🎧 Listen to the last eight seconds of the tape.
