The hymn “When We All Get to Heaven” was written by Eliza Edmunds Hewitt, with music composed by **Emily Divine Wilson. It was first published in 1898. The story behind the hymn Eliza Hewitt was a schoolteacher in Philadelphia who loved writing poetry and Bible-based songs. While teaching, she suffered a severe back injury after a student struck her with a heavy object. The injury left her bedridden for months, and some believed she might never fully recover. During that difficult period, her deep Christian faith sustained her. She spent much of her recovery studying the Bible, especially passages about the hope of eternal life. Although she lived with ongoing physical limitations, she became a prolific hymn writer, composing more than 2,000 hymns. “When We All Get to Heaven” reflects this hope. Rather than focusing on life’s hardships, it points believers to the joy of Christ’s return and the promise of heaven. The hymn encourages Christians to persevere faithfully because their ultimate destination is eternal life with God. When we all get to heaven Arrangers: Mw.
