මීන 2 මේෂ 2023 | Meena to Mesha 2023 | OKI School Avurudu Celebrations

As the sun moves from Pisces to Aries, it marks the end of the harvest season. The call of the Koha, the blossoming red Erabudu flowers and ripening golden paddy all tell us that the much-awaited Sinhala and Hindu New Year is close at hand. The month of April is the best month of the year to celebrate the traditional Sri Lankan cuisines, owing to the Sinhala/Tamil New Year celebration. On the auspicious day of the New Year, family members sit around a table, where most of the traditional dishes are to be found. This being a significant festival to Sri Lankans, we at OKI International School Network celebrated "Meena to Mesha" with much pomp and fanfare with the presence of our chairperson, Coordinating Principal, and Chief Administrative Officer. The sounds of the rhythm of Rabana signals mark the dawn of a new beginning and the ritual dancers and the lighting of the hearth and the oil lamp followed by many Avurudu games made it an enjoyable event. The members of our management joined hands to share our joyous moments.
