On day one of our Kinmen Island adventure, we traveled to the island's west side, visiting military forts, rugged beaches, historic villages, and artillery museums. Kinmen Island in Taiwan is a mere 1.5 miles from China at low tide and has been in the news since Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taipei. Highlights of the trip included the Mashan Observation Post, the Shanhou Village, the 823 Artillery Museum, and sunset at Cihu Beach.
