Valencia Performance Project '12 by Samantha Emanuel & Tjarda van Straten

Back in 2012, we created this choreography during a 5-day intensive in Valencia, Spain. Over the years, we had taught together at festivals around the world and performed our duets together, a perfect blend of two artists with different backgrounds, styles and perspectives. Alongside workshops with the group, we spent time creating together, experimenting, exchanging ideas and developing choreography. We called our intensive “The Brew Sessions”, a space to let things simmer, mix, and take shape. Looking back, it was a beautiful way of working together: intensive, creative and very much about the process as well as the final piece.
