A Barefoot Coastal Hike at Cape Kiwanda | Ep9

A beautiful day at the Oregon Coast. What could possibly go wrong? For Episode 9 of North Coast Detour, I'm heading to Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon, to climb the massive sand dunes, explore the coastline, and take in some epic Pacific Ocean views. The plan was simple: hike to the top, enjoy the scenery, and try not to embarrass myself. Naturally, things didn't go exactly as planned. An unexpected wave soaked my shoes, leading to a barefoot detour through some questionable shrubbery. Then came the uphill slog through deep sand, which turns out to be a surprisingly effective way to remind yourself you're not 25 anymore. But the views from the top? Absolutely worth it. And what better way to celebrate than sprinting down the dunes, channeling my inner Chariots of Fire? Olympic glory was never so close. Or so slow. Another detour, another adventure, and another reminder that getting outside doesn't always have to be extreme to be memorable.
