High Street from Haweswater & 2 Tragic Tales

This is the lovely hike from Mardale Head up the Riggindale Ridge to High Street and then back via Mardale Ill Bell and Harter Fell. The 2 tragic tales from this region refer to the loss of the old Mardale Green village which was drowned by the Haweswater Reservoir, and the the loss of England's last Golden Eagle. Both sad stories are recounted in full, with some fascinating old pictures from the old Mardale Valley and the lost village of Mardale Green.
