Join me as I make a trip up to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on North Manitou Island! A quick overnight consisting of the cross cut loop on the northern half of the island. Lots of wildlife including many deer which seem to have no natural predator on the island, controlled hunts keep their population down. This is a unique island with historical buildings and ruins from its past as a cord wood supplier for steam boats on Lake Michigan. Mileage Day 1: 6 Day 2: 8 Campsite location in Crescent near Sewnson's Barn. Transportation: www.manitoutransit.com Trailhead Info: 45°07'20.4"N 85°58'39.8"W A national parks pass is required, $25 for one week. Backcountry permits can be obtained when you check in with the boat. If you have a ticket on the boat you are guaranteed a camping permit. Thanks for joining me and I'll see you on the next one!
