Episode 7 | Eastern Pine Backcountry Trail, Algonquin Park

🌲 EPISODE 7 — EASTERN PINE BACKCOUNTRY TRAIL | ALGONQUIN PARK | 21 KM WITH KAÏA Come along with me and Kaïa on a 21 km backcountry adventure over two days on the Eastern Pine Trail, located in the beautiful Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. This episode is a little longer because I wanted to show more of what actually goes into doing a trip like this with a working dog — from packing my backpack and deciding what gear to bring, to setting up camp, managing food, collecting and cutting firewood, and dealing with the unexpected challenges that come with being out there. I also talk through the gear I use, how I pack my pack, what Kaïa carries, and how I make things work when I’m carrying everything we need for both of us. And then there was the bear hang… 😂 Getting that rope up was WAY more challenging than I expected. I left it in because this is what these trips are really like. Not everything works perfectly. Sometimes you have to figure it out, adapt, swear or cry a little, and keep going. Our first night at Stratton 5 was absolutely magnificent. 🌲🔥 We decided to not say the second night and finish the loop, and drive home. Sometimes the best decision is simply knowing when a campsite isn’t worth staying at. This video is raw and real. No pretending everything is perfect. Just me, Kaïa, the gear I used, the challenges I faced, and the experience of spending time in the backcountry with a strong, working dog.
