Custom Brake Shoes - 1962 Chevrolet C-30 Pickup, obsolete brake shoes on rear axle (2016)

If you can’t get it, make it! Brake shoes for the rear axle, were not available in 2016 for my 1962 Chevrolet C-30 one-ton pickup truck. Having the original shoes relined was expensive. So, I modified and rebuilt the original shoes with new linings taken from brake shoes to fit a 1985 GMC G-30 one-ton cargo van. Used new brake lining rivets and a 100 year old brake riveting machine to rivet the new linings to the original modified brake shoes for the ‘62 Chevy. A few hours later, the truck had serviceable brakes on the rear axle and it was closer to being on the road again after 35 years.
