Umpire Jeff Nelson Leaves 2019 ALCS Postseason Game

What happens when an umpire leaves a postseason game? The crew goes from six to five umpires, as American League Championship Series crew chief Jeff Nelson left Tuesday’s Astros-Yankees game due to a head injury prior to the 5th inning of play. 2B Umpire Kerwin Danley took over behind the plate and the umpires slid over to cover the infield, leaving the left field line unmanned.
