Before starting an important project for my 90-year-old grandparents, I had work to do at home first. We prepared githeri for breakfast, then headed to the farm with mum to get spinach roots for our cows — an exercise that took longer than planned. Even after a late lunch, I couldn't let myself rest. I went straight to my grandparents' home to begin building a simple, traditional rabbit hutch — my way of introducing rabbit keeping to them for the very first time. I didn't get far before darkness caught up with me, so I had to pause and continue the next day. When morning came, I worked alone for several hours until the hutch was finally complete. I prepared fresh bedding, and then came the best part — I gifted my grandparents a rabbit with her 7 beautiful bunnies to go along with their brand new hutch. Their reaction said it all. At 90 years old, they welcomed this new project with so much love and appreciation, and it reminded me why moments like these matter so much. This is what it means to show up for family — one small project, one big smile at a time. 🌾 Subscribe to African Village Boy for more real stories of family, farm life, and honoring our elders.#AfricanVillageBoy #VillageLife #RabbitKeeping #GrandparentsLove #RuralKenya #FarmLife #FamilyProject #HonoringElders #KenyanVillageLife #RabbitHutch
