Democratic Newsroom: Is Opposition's SIR Campaign Actually Working? India Today Anchors Debate

In this edition of the Democratic Newsroom, editors Gaurav Sawant, Rajdeep Sardesai, Akshita, and Preeti debate the opposition's campaign surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and allegations of vote theft. The panel examines whether the opposition's protests and padayatra are gaining electoral traction or remaining confined to public buzz and social media. The discussion addresses the functioning of the Election Commission of India, calls by the opposition targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and recent procedural course corrections such as doorstep verification and scrutiny of mass voter deletions. The editors also analyze the political implications of recent MLC election results across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, discussing whether voter rolls and electoral concerns resonate as bread-and-butter issues. Disagreements emerge over whether electoral roll disputes belong before the judiciary or require direct press conferences from the election watchdog, as well as contentious assertions regarding voter deletions in West Bengal and border infiltration claims. #SIRProtest #BJPvsOpposition #GyaneshKumar #DemocraticNewsroom #IndiaToday #SIRRow #ElectionCommission #VoteChori #RajdeepSardesai #GauravSawant #PreetiChoudhry #IndianPolitics #SupremeCourt #ECI #ElectoralReforms #VoterRolls #CongressVsBJP Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
