From Static to Dynamic Lighting | Stogger Turf Care | Turf Tech Summit 2026

A stadium is never the same environment twice, so why light the pitch with static technology? Rens Dekkers and Stefan Dorssers of Stogger Turf Care explain how lessons from professional horticulture, where they work with lighting partner MechaTronix, are changing the way stadium pitches are lit. They show what each colour of light does to the grass, how lighting recipes can mimic a sunrise to reduce stress on the plant, and how every part of the pitch can get its own recipe. Daylight sensors switch individual lights on and off to save energy. Stefan then explains how the rigs are built for the stadium rather than the greenhouse: easy to operate by one person, protected against water, cooled by a heat pipe system that allows a ten-year warranty, and made of carbon fibre to keep them light and strong. Finally, they look at how open data connects lights, heat and sensors into one system, and where stadium lighting is heading next.
