What would “Risking It All” sound and feel like performed live? I love live music—the energy of the band, the imperfections, the interaction between musicians, and the way a song can become something different once it's taken onto a stage. So I decided to find out. This is a fictional concert performance set in a simulated Boston-area venue, created as a Steve Cote Music project to explore “Risking It All” as a live arrangement. There was no actual concert, venue performance, audience, or live band involved in creating this video. The performance and setting are simulated. The original song tells the story of a man who has spent years protecting his heart after being emotionally devastated by someone he loved. Then someone new enters his life and those defenses begin to fall. He knows what love can cost. He also knows he can't walk away from what he's feeling. So he takes the risk. I'm risking it all. Please be true. This live-version experiment is about hearing that story differently—with the energy, dynamics, musicianship, and atmosphere of a concert performance.
