The Terminator – Love Theme | Extended Piano Version

An extended piano interpretation of Love Scene, the beautiful romantic theme from The Terminator, originally composed by Brad Fiedel. While The Terminator is remembered for its dark electronic score, relentless tension and iconic mechanical sound, Love Scene, often referred to as the Love Theme, shows a completely different side of Brad Fiedel’s music. Beneath the cold world of machines and the Future War is a surprisingly emotional theme connected to Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor. I have always loved that contrast. Their relationship exists against the backdrop of a future in which humanity is fighting for survival, which gives this relatively simple melody an incredible amount of emotional weight. For this Extended Piano Version, I wanted to give the theme more room to breathe and turn it into a longer cinematic piano piece rather than simply repeating the original cue. I also incorporated musical material from End Credits: Final Suite from The Terminator, as featured on the anniversary edition of the soundtrack. This allowed me to expand the arrangement beyond the original Love Scene while still staying closely connected to Brad Fiedel’s music from the film. The visual concept also plays with that contrast between the human and machine worlds: Kyle and Sarah surrounded by the cold blue atmosphere of the Future War, while the Terminator elements underneath the piano hint at the machine hiding beneath human tissue. The Terminator has always held a very special place in my heart, and after recently revisiting the music from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, I wanted to return to the original 1984 film and explore one of its most emotional themes.
