This major infrastructure project is transforming one of Kabul’s important and busy intersections, with the goal of improving traffic flow and making transportation easier for residents. 🚧 ABOUT THE BARAKI FLYOVER AND UNDERPASS According to Kabul Municipality, the project includes two major structures: 🔹 Baraki Flyover: Approximately 700 metres long and 20 metres wide, connecting the Dahan-e Bagh intersection toward Parwan-e Du intersection. The design includes 247 reinforced support columns. 🔹 Baraki Underpass: Approximately 470 metres long, 20 metres wide, and 5.5 metres deep, extending from the Naderia High School direction toward the Traffic Intersection. 💰 PROJECT COST The combined estimated cost of the flyover and underpass project is approximately 1.5 billion Afghanis (AFN), according to Kabul Municipality’s published project information. The project is funded through the municipality’s development budget. 📊 LATEST REPORTED CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS A report published by Pajhwok Afghan News on August 15, 2026, stated that the underpass was approximately 90% complete, while the flyover had reached around 50% completion at that time. Construction progress may have changed since that report, and this video shows the work visible during our visit. 🌆 WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?
