The Academy soon to become the Punjab Forest Training Institute is responsible to train newly inducted and in-service guards, block officers, foresters, DFOs and SDFOs of the Punjab Forest Department. It consists of training halls, well equipped class rooms, hostels, mess and fire fighting training blocks. There are separate hostels for officers and junior officers and the academy can house around 200 trainees at one time. It's capacity is being increased, new blocks are being made to give it a status of Punjab Forest Training Institute.
