Africa's Black Death: Why the Cape Buffalo Is the Continent's Most Feared Killer

It is not the lion. It is not the crocodile. The Cape buffalo kills around 200 people every year in Africa — more than any other large animal on the continent. Hunters call it the Black Death, and for good reason: wound one, and it does not run. It circles back through the grass, waits in silence... and charges. In this episode of Wild Killers, we break down the animal that breaks the food chain: the 900-kilo battering ram that tosses lions into the air, drives whole prides off their kills, and ambushes the hunters who shoot it. From the infamous dagga boys to the real reason guides fear it more than elephants — this is the full story of Africa's most dangerous big animal.
