Topic Sentences

In this video, we continue our academic writing series with a focus on topic sentences. Following the previous videos on brainstorming and thesis statements, we use renewable energy as an example to explore how a strong topic sentence introduces a clear main idea, establishes a controlling idea and guides the supporting sentences that follow. You’ll also learn how to identify weak topic sentences, choose effective supporting details, and make sure every sentence in a paragraph stays focused on the main idea.
