2020 CY O'Conner Lecture: Playing to our Strengths

CY O’Connor casts a long shadow over the history of Western Australia. He was a committed public servant in a period of popular criticism. He was an innovator driven by a vision of the State’s development, surrounded by the dully critical. Then, success or failure was cocooned by the embrace of membership of the British Empire. We are strong but exposed. Contemporary global politics and trends challenge us. How we meet this will determine our happiness and maybe our survival.
