Na Uyana Monastery, also known as Nā Uyana Āranya or the Ironwood Grove Forest Monastery, is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist forest monasteries in Sri Lanka. It is located in Kurunegala, in the Dummiya mountain range, and covers over 5,000 acres of forest. The monastery has a deep historical significance, dating back to the 3rd century BCE during the reign of King Uttiya, and remains a major center for monastic and lay meditation practice today cable truck accident. A cable truck accident at the Na Uyana Aranya Senasanaya monastery in Sri Lanka resulted in the deaths of seven Buddhist monks, including three foreign nationals from India, Russia, and Romania, and injured six others, four of whom are in critical condition.
