The Hardest Race I’ve Ever Sailed | Hobie 16 International Day 3

Day 3 of the Hobie 16 International Championships delivered one of the most difficult races I’ve ever sailed. We launched into two exciting port-tack starts, but the first race didn’t go to plan. I completely misread the shifting breeze and we finished near the back of the fleet. Race two was a completely different story. Some great strategic decisions put us into FIRST PLACE at the opening buoy—but the race was far from over. The wind disappeared completely before slowly returning from the north shore, reaching the other boats before it reached us. After leading early, we had to fight for every position and eventually crossed the finish line in sixth. Considering everything that happened, we were extremely happy to rescue such a strong result.
