#IslamicTheology #qurantafseer #prophetstories Why are there no female prophets in Islam? Or is that assumption itself mistaken? In this thought-provoking video, I explore one of the most important and sensitive theological questions in Islamic discourse today: did women receive prophecy and revelation according to the Qur’an? Drawing upon Qur’anic analysis, classical scholarship, and historical reflection, I propose a radical framework for understanding female prophecy in Islam. This discussion began years ago during a live podcast with Eram Saeed, when I was asked why women were not given prophethood. At the time, I answered that the Qur’an tells us about women receiving divine revelation (wahi) but they were not commanded to preach publicly due to social and safety concerns. Since then, further study and reflection have led me to deepen that answer. Inspired in part by the research and reflections of brother Abdul Ahad Nadwi, this video attempts to outline an emerging theological framework rooted in the Qur’an itself. While these are still developing ideas, I believe the conversation is both necessary and overdue. In this video, I will: • Examine why the question of female prophets matters so deeply today • Analyse modern Muslim discourse and the views of well-known scholars • Explore surprising classical scholarly opinions on female prophecy • Discuss female prophets mentioned in the Torah • Investigate what the Qur’an reveals about revelation given to women • Present a new framework for understanding female prophecy in Islamic theology This is not a superficial discussion. It is a careful attempt to rethink religious history through the lens of the Qur’an while remaining grounded in the Islamic tradition. I would genuinely love to hear your thoughts, reflections, and critiques in the comments. Watch till the end and walk with me through this fascinating journey of reflection and discovery.
