How many times have we known what God's Word says, but convinced ourselves that our situation was different? We make decisions based on fear, pressure, or what feels right at the moment. Then, when those choices bring consequences, we wonder how things got so far.
Here we examine Saul's disobedience, Jonathan's faith, and the danger of allowing people's opinions to influence our decisions. And what about the people affected by our choices? Sometimes we're so focused on what we want that we fail to consider how our actions may affect our families, relationships, and those who depend on us.
1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV): "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."
We can attend church, pray, teach, and serve, but none of those things replaces obedience to God's Word.
What stood out to me is how easily we can recognize disobedience in somebody else's life while making excuses for our own. Saul had his reasons for what he did, just like we sometimes have ours. But having a reason doesn't automatically make a decision right. And when God's Word corrects us, what matters is whether we're willing to listen and change.
We can't change yesterday, but we can take responsibility for what we do today.
Join us as we study 1 Samuel chapters 13-15 verse by verse. This isn't just about understanding what Saul did wrong. It's about recognizing what God's Word may be correcting in our own lives and whether we're willing to do something about it.
