College Football Week 6 Reaction: Oklahoma Stuns Texas, UCLA Beats Oregon + 24-Team CFP Debate

College Football Week 6 gave us upsets, statement wins, coaching questions and another major change potentially coming to the sport. Oklahoma handed No. 1 Texas its first loss in Red River, winning 27-24 as Arch Manning and the Longhorn offense again struggled to find consistency. We get into how much of the problem belongs to Arch, how much belongs to Steve Sarkisian and why Texas still does not look like the championship team everyone expected. Indiana survived Nebraska 20-17, extending Nebraska’s brutal losing streak against ranked opponents. Georgia beat Alabama 20-17 in Tuscaloosa. Kentucky knocked off LSU in overtime. UCLA stunned Oregon 17-15, even as Nico Iamaleava suffered a season-ending injury. Missouri dominated Texas A&M, South Carolina crushed Florida and USC won at Penn State. We also get into UNLV’s ugly but important 13-7 win over North Dakota State, why the Rebels are still alive in the Mountain West race and how the national attention around NDSU gave UNLV plenty of motivation. Then the conversation turns to the proposed 24-team College Football Playoff. Michael’s biggest issue is simple: if you expand to 24 teams but guarantee only one G6 spot, you are not creating more access. You are creating more spots for Power Four teams. His preferred model is closer to the FCS playoffs, where every conference champion gets access and the rest of the field is filled with at-large teams. We also talk about what expansion could mean for bowl games, conference championship games, Notre Dame, the future of the Group of Six and another wave of conference realignment. Plus our usual categories: uniforms, rivalry of the week, worst quarterback performance, overrated teams, coaches on the hot seat and the completely unnecessary amount of time we spend talking about Jameis Winston. #CollegeFootball #CFB #CollegeFootballPlayoff #TexasFootball #OklahomaFootball #UNLVFootball
