Morton castle

The dating of Morton Castle has been debated, but it was probably built in the late 1200s or early 1300s. Notoriously difficult to find, it’s situated on a triangular spur of land, surrounded by steep drops to an artificial loch. It’s one of only a few surviving hall-houses that have been identified, and by far the most complex. It retains some of its original impressive presence, and carries a real sense of discovery
