When I sit down to write lyrics, the inspiration tends to come more fluidly if I'm in a new place, especially while experiencing it for the first time. I suppose this is why I'm a bit more productive in my writing during the summer, when I can actually take a minute to breathe. Ironically, this one came to me at the end of summer. I love the summer, but I also love the fall, as summer and fall tend to be "concert season" around these parts. My little family absolutely loves live music, and we tend to get our fill each year. This year our live itinerary is chock full of great shows: Cannons, Muse, Gorillaz, Phoebe Bridgers, New Constellations, Cameron Winters, Noah Kahan and Empire of the Sun. Well, let me get to the point. I guess I got the itch late this summer to write a song that would sound great live in a large arena. And that is how "Summer Love" was born. So, lucky us. I'll be releasing three versions of this track. A studio cut and two live performance versions. Before anyone accuses me of fraud, please be reminded that the Sadie Winters persona doesn't really... well... perform live at the moment. Wouldn't it be cool if she did?
