Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (14ADA05) No Picture / Freezing Fix – Disabling Onboard RAM

Does your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14ADA05 turn on with no picture, or freeze, restart, and flicker when you flex the chassis? You might think it's a failing Ryzen CPU, but the fix might be much simpler! In today’s repair, we tackle a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (model 14ADA05) that came in with severe stability issues. At first glance, the heavy underfill on the Ryzen CPU made it look like a BGA issue - something that would require expensive reballing tools to fix. However, another common culprit for these exact symptoms is failing onboard memory. This board has 8GB of soldered RAM and an empty expansion slot. Instead of writing the board off, I decided to consult the schematics and change the Board ID using strap resistors to completely disable the onboard RAM. After popping a fresh DDR4 stick into the empty slot, the laptop booted perfectly - and the flexing issues completely disappeared!
