A defendant on community control for a weapons-under-disability conviction appeared before the court after allegedly violating multiple conditions of his probation.
During the hearing, the defendant waived his right to a final hearing and pleaded guilty to three violations. The allegations included firearms found during a home visit and marijuana discovered in a kitchen cabinet.
His attorney asked the court for another opportunity, explaining that the defendant was scared, had family support, had recently obtained employment, and wanted to change his lifestyle.
The defendant then addressed the judge personally, apologized, asked for forgiveness, and pleaded for one more chance.
The judge, however, pointed to the defendant's conduct shortly after his original sentencing, including social-media posts involving firearms, and concluded that he was not amenable to available community-control sanctions.
The court terminated community control and sentenced him to 12 months in prison, with 107 days of jail-time credit.
