About to be seen~ (Also, if you want to support Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and also have a chance to obtain physical CD of the game or even awesome Ryouko Wallscroll - you know where to donate: https://tiltify.com/@th_dreamcatcher/...) ----- [ SUMMARY ] 東方催狐譚 ～ Servants of Harvest Wish - is a Touhou fangame, made by our western fellas from Team Dreamcatcher, with @Eredom as a leader. The game was in development for the whole three years, and just two days ago it had its full version release. You're about to see a lot of references to Japanese folklore (and not only!), surprisingly really well written story around an incident. You'll also have a chance to solve riddles and unlock "Anomaly" and Overdrive spellcards! Trust me, the content amount within that single game is enormous. Are you in? Read (and watch!) further. From the basics: Maingame - whole six stages - with four difficulties + Extra stage (with two difficulties!), 4 characters * 2 shot types each. Each of them fairly balanced - which is truly epic - of course each having pros and cons. One hidden difficulty (if you dare to try it), Overdrive spellcards, riddles to solve to unlock Anomaly and Overdrive spells. Basically - lots of content! [ HARVEST ITEMS ] The game utilizes 'Harvest' mechanism. During the gameplay you'll see harvest items popping out from many sources. Killed enemies drop them, grazing bullets makes them suddenly appear. They fill the bar on your right. Collecting enough of them activates a border - something like PCB border, but you're not immune to hits unfortunately. You'll auto-collect items, as well as gain a huge PIV boost from additional pellets. If it naturally ends, you'll get bomb pieces, depending on how much of them gain extra. It should be mentioned that if you get hit and counterbomb it, it won't deplet your bombs. The same goes for manual pressing X - thus ending the harvest border prematurely. Apart from it, they are mandatory to unlock Last Word spellcards. Collect certain amount, and you'll face it after defeating boss. Requirements aren't that huge, so you should nearly always hit it. [ ANOMALIES & RIDDLES ] I sincerely hope you don't think this is the end! SoHW has way more to offer than it could be seen on the surface. After your first clear of the game, during the gameplay, some weird stuff can happen. I mean, it all gets glitchy at certain points... But not that totally random. This is a feature, don't worry (lol). Game has a special mechanism of replacing some bosses' spellcards with the modified versions, given you met certain conditions. For example - replacing Minoriko's midboss spellcard with a pumped-up version was not an accident. The orb hiding on the stage - was a trigger. Of course that is a really simple case. The whole rest won't be as simple. And this is where riddles come in. They are listed in Spell Practice, in Overdrive section. If you properly solve them, you'll meet Anomaly spellcard. Capturing them during the run (or Stage Practice) unlocks corresponding Overdrive spellcard as well. I must admit this is a really clever idea. Also, prolongs the game playthrough, and it is not even dull, which is epic. BUT, if you want to solve them all by yourself - I'm afraid you'll spoil yourself with my gameplay. I hope it is not a trouble though... ^^` [ MY HONEST OPINION ] ...Do I need to say anything else? The amount of work and love given into a single game - I'm truly in awe. Phenomenal work guys - you and your game have a special place in my heart.
