You know that feeling when you’re bored at 2:00 AM, deep diving into Google Earth, just dragging your mouse across random parts of the globe? I do that all the time. Usually, it’s just sand, sand, and more sand. But last week, while I was scrolling through the Remote South-west desert of America simply drifting something caught my eye.
So, let me set the scene. If you look at the coordinates—which I’ll put on the screen here—you’re looking at a stretch of desert where temperatures easily climb above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. There is one road for a couple hundred miles on this remote stretch of desert. There isn’t a town. There isn’t even a hiking trail just a single unknown road cutting across the vast expanse of emptiness.
When I first clicked on the satellite layer, I thought it was a military installation or maybe a mining operation. But as the image rendered, I saw something that defies standard desert architecture. There’s a central structure, a cluster of rectangular buildings that are clearly man-made, and off to the side, these strange, perfectly circular depressions. They looked like garden beds, but they were bone dry. There was no green, no water reflection, just the bleached-out color of dried silt. But a cluster of trees in the middle of the dry desert. I question what I was seeing on google earth and set out to explore it myself. What was this unknown unnamed structure in the middle of the desert? A remote hidden Oasis? A desert hermits own forgotten but abandoned oasis.? This discovery on google earth is nearly impossible to reach and well very strange. What I found at this place was even stranger!
I had questions to be answered and decided to trek across the desert in search of setting eyes on my discovery.
Join me on this adventure into the desert, this is one you don't want to miss! Thank you and friends see you on the trail!
