The full testimony from the *Mamta Kafle Bhatt* murder trial: the independent journalist who interviewed Naresh Bhatt on camera — days before he was arrested — takes the stand, and the interview he volunteered becomes evidence against him.
Sachchi Mainali, an independent Nepali-community journalist, hosts a live interview program called "Sachi Ko Saath Ma" ("With Sachi"). On August 18, 2024 — while Naresh Bhatt was still a grieving husband in the public eye, not yet charged — she interviewed him live on Facebook, in Nepali, about the disappearance of his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt. On the stand, she authenticates that recording (entered as a trial exhibit), walks through how she added the English subtitles, and the Commonwealth plays portions of it for the jury.
In his own words, Naresh told her the couple had "decided to separate respectfully," that they never argued, and that he had wanted to move to New York or Texas. He said he did not call the police when he couldn't find Mamta — it was her workplace that initiated the wellness check that brought officers to the home.
This is the complete courtroom session, uncut, for viewers following the trial day by day.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a 28-year-old nurse and new mother, was last seen in late July 2024 and has never been found.
