WHY NOT PASTEL? Pastel on Canvas? | A New Painting Begins with an Unusual First Layer.

Sometimes there are materials sitting in the studio that hardly ever get used. For me, that’s pastel. So today I’m trying something different: pastel on canvas, fixed with acrylic binder, and used as the very first layer of a new painting. I have no idea yet where this painting will go. But that’s part of the process. This is only the beginning — just the first layer. In the next video, I’ll continue working on the painting and see what happens next. Join me in the studio and watch the painting evolve, layer by layer. Manchmal liegen im Atelier Materialien herum, die so gut wie nie zum Einsatz kommen. Bei mir sind das Pastellfarben. Deshalb probiere ich heute mal etwas Neues aus: Pastell auf Leinwand, mit Acrylbindemittel fixiert und als allererste Schicht eines neuen Gemäldes verwendet. Ich habe noch keine Ahnung, in welche Richtung sich dieses Gemälde entwickeln wird. Aber das gehört zum Prozess dazu. Das ist erst der Anfang – nur die erste Schicht. Im nächsten Video werde ich weiter an dem Bild arbeiten und sehen, wie es weitergeht.
