A clash between civilians and police in Admiralty on June 12 was the first major one of its kind in Hong Kong’s ongoing protests, sparked by opposition to a fugitive offenders bill. This episode of “ Now Report” collates, by time and place, news footages from that day to try to get a true picture. That day, demonstrators threw bricks, and the police fired tear gas, bean bag and rubber bullets for the first time. The degree of force on both sides was controversial. In retrospect, no one could’ve anticipated the escalation of police-civilian conflict over the next 2 months or more to create a deep chasm in society.
