Join us on a six-day journey through Gascony in southwestern France, traveling by a rented canal boat along the waterways of this beautiful and historic region. Our journey begins at the Le Boat base in Le Mas-d’Agenais and follows the waterways of the region, including the Canal de Garonne and the River Baïse. Along the way, we pass through peaceful countryside, locks, bridges, small villages, vineyards and historic towns, stopping at places such as Buzet-sur-Baïse, Vianne, Nérac, Moncrabeau and Condom. This is a slow journey through historic Gascony — a land of medieval bastides, old stone buildings, fortified towns, local wineries and bodegas, vineyards, traditional villages and the landscapes of southwestern France. The route also takes us through the heart of the Albret area, where the River Baïse has connected towns and villages for centuries. Vianne, founded in 1284, is one of the best-preserved bastides in the region, with its medieval walls, gates and towers overlooking the Baïse. Nérac, associated with King Henry IV, reveals another side of the area's history, while Moncrabeau and the villages along the Baïse preserve the quiet character of rural Gascony. The film combines long, peaceful passages aboard the boat with natural sounds of the countryside — water, birds, cicadas and the atmosphere of the waterways — together with views from the stern and sides of the boat, passages through numerous locks, walks through the towns and aerial footage filmed by drone. There is no rush here. This is a journey to simply watch, listen and experience the landscape of Gascony from the water. Route: Le Mas-d’Agenais → Canal de Garonne → Buzet-sur-Baïse → Vianne → Nérac → Moncrabeau → Condom and the River Baïse. Filmed in France in 2026. Boat rented from Le Boat. If you enjoy slow travel, scenic boat journeys, France, river cruises, canals, historic towns and immersive travel films, this journey through Gascony is for you. PART 1 of the journey.
