Eurovision 1983 was pretty ordinary on the surface. Countries returned, new lands begin a lifelong obbession, and the usual that usually happens happen. But beneath of all that, things were starting to shift. 1983 was the last gasp of an older Eurovision: the era of French chansons, traditional orchestration, and the dominance of countries like France and Luxembourg.
