Arulmigu Agnieesvarar Temple (also spelled Agneeswarar Temple) is a prominent, ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Thirukattupalli within the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India Presiding Deity (Moolavar): Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Agneeswarar (meaning "Lord of Fire") or Theeyaadiyappar in Tamil. The sanctum is a rare Pathala Moolasthanam, meaning it sits below the ground level. Consort (Ambal): Goddess Parvati is worshipped as Soundara Nayaki (also referred to as Azhagammai or Vaarkonda Mulai Amman). Religious Significance Paadal Petra Sthalam: The temple is recognized as the 126th Shiva Sthalam and the 9th in the series of Tevara Stalams located south of the Kaveri River.
