Peshwa Madhavrao History is one of the most remarkable comeback stories in Indian history. At just 16, Madhavrao Peshwa inherited a Maratha Empire devastated by the Third Battle of Panipat, an empty treasury, political instability and enemies waiting to exploit its weakness. In this documentary, we explore how the young Peshwa Madhavrao rebuilt Maratha power after Panipat and transformed a struggling empire into a major political force once again. From his conflict with his uncle Raghunathrao and the war against the Nizam to his campaigns against Haider Ali, Madhavrao faced threats both inside and outside the Maratha Empire. We also explore his administrative reforms, his support for capable leaders such as Mahadji Shinde and Ahilyabai Holkar, and the revival of Maratha influence in North India. One of the most remarkable moments came in 1771, when Maratha forces under Mahadji Shinde returned to Delhi and restored Shah Alam II to the Mughal throne—just a decade after the disaster of Panipat. But while the Maratha Empire was rising again, Madhavrao was fighting another battle: tuberculosis. His health deteriorated rapidly, and in 1772, at just 27 years old, he died.
