Some days with fibromyalgia, the word tired does not come close to describing how you feel.
The body may feel unusually heavy. Thoughts can become slower, simple tasks can require far more effort, and even ordinary sounds, lights, or conversations may feel like too much. On days like these, you may not need more motivation—you may simply need fewer demands.
This four-hour ambient music journey was created as a gentle self-help resource for those moments. Let it accompany you while you lie down, close your eyes, rest after activity, or create a quieter space around yourself.
The music does not ask you to concentrate or follow anything. It is intentionally slow, soft, and predictable:
🎼 No vocals
🥁 No drums
🌿 No sudden interruptions
🌊 No abrupt transitions or dramatic changes
Only flowing instrumental music that remains calm and undemanding throughout the full four hours.
The accompanying dreamscape shows a woman sleeping peacefully on a giant lily pad beneath the moon. She is surrounded by still water, glowing flowers, drifting clouds, and waterfalls flowing through the distant mountains.
Rather than struggling against exhaustion, she allows herself to be carried.
For me, the image represents something many people with fibromyalgia need to hear:
You are allowed to rest before you have completely exhausted yourself.
💜 This music may be used during:
• Difficult periods of fibromyalgia fatigue
• Rest after physical, mental, or social activity
• Days when the body feels unusually heavy
• Brain fog and reduced mental energy
• Sensory overload or a need for fewer impressions
• Resting with persistent pain or muscular tension
• Gentle breathing exercises or body awareness
• Quiet reading, journaling, or background listening
• Evening relaxation and preparation for sleep
• Longer periods of rest and recovery
🎧 Listen at a low and comfortable volume
⏱ Duration: 4 hours
🎵 Music by Alex Alandor
My name is Alexander Andorff. I have worked closely with people living with fibromyalgia for more than 15 years and have written several books about the condition.
Through this work, I have met many people who describe fatigue as one of the most limiting and misunderstood parts of fibromyalgia. It can affect the body, concentration, tolerance for sensory input, and the ability to manage everyday responsibilities.
This is not the same as simply feeling sleepy after a long day.
Fibromyalgia fatigue may remain present even after rest, and it can sometimes feel as though the body’s available energy has suddenly become much smaller. Although music cannot remove the underlying cause, a calm and predictable sound environment may make it easier to reduce stimulation, release some tension, and settle into rest.
Gentle breathing, comfortable positioning, lower sensory input, and soothing music may also help create more supportive conditions for the body’s parasympathetic response—the part of the nervous system associated with rest, digestion, and a greater sense of calm.
You do not need to complete all four hours. There is no goal to reach.
Listen for ten minutes, an hour, or allow the music to continue quietly while you rest. Use it in the way that feels most supportive today.
When your energy is limited, resting is NOT giving up. It is a way of respecting what your body can carry right now.
