Longtime Battlefield fans should be pleased! Unfortunately for me, this doesn’t quite hit the spot that Battlefield 1 did. I absolutely loved the design of Battlefield 1 during its peak in 2016, and while this does have a similar feel in general to BF3 and 4, there’s a lot of that classic BF design philosophy missing. Where’s the teamwork? What happened to clearly defined roles like the Combat Medic and Engineer? Most players seem to default into Sniper or COD-style Assault roles and neglect the squad-based mechanics Battlefield offers. The modern Battlefield games for me have always seemed to suffer from player bases that expect COD-style arcade firefights instead of cooperative team-based tactics in achieving game mode objectives.
