GNA NOW Symposium – Next Steps in Enteric Antibacterial Development: Evidence, Gaps & Actions

On 22 September 2026, the GNA NOW consortium brought together experts from academia, industry and global health in Lisbon, Portugal, for a symposium held alongside the Global AMR Innovators Conference (GAMRIC) 2026. The session explored recent developments and future priorities in antibacterial development for severe enteric infections, including the GNA NOW Target Product Profile, preclinical enteric disease models, and a panel discussion on key evidence and knowledge gaps and how to further incentivize the development of new antibiotics. The symposium builds on discussions initiated at the first GNA NOW expert meeting in Porto in 2024 and forms part of the project's efforts to advance the development of new treatments for severe enteric infections.
