In Week 2 of our “What If Jesus Was Serious?” series, we continue walking verse by verse through the Sermon on the Mount, asking what would happen if we stopped speaking for Jesus and actually listened to Him as our King. In Matthew 5:6–8, Jesus describes the kind of people we become under His Kingship: hungry for what is right, generous with mercy, and undivided in heart. Following Jesus doesn’t simply change what we believe—it transforms what we desire, how we treat others, and who has our hearts. Ultimately, these Beatitudes aren’t a checklist for earning God’s favor. They are an invitation into a life being transformed by Jesus, with an incredible promise at the end: “They will see God.”
