Seen all the Class I's in the Memphis area in the past 3 days except Kansas City Southern. :D Lots of rare lashups and catches in this video, some maps I made, and the intro...well...this is just for this video. I'll make a new one. :P
This past Friday Dad & I drove up to Dyersburg to get my driver's license, and on the way back we decided to drive by the CN, CSX, and NS yards.....first we headed over to Hollywood Yard....not much happening there but we did see a ex-IC GP38-2 idling, and then at Leewood Yard we spotted a CSX "mother & slug" pair parked on the inside of the yard and at the west end of the yard a WB CSX manifest train (Q533?) with a CSX YN2 Dash9 and YN3 SD70MAC was getting ready to leave. Then at NS's Harris Yard we saw the crane moving intermodal containers about, trucks pulling in and out of the yard to deliver & pick up intermodal containers, the only locomotives there at the yard were a NS GP38-3 and a Dash9, partly hidden.....as we headed back east along Park Ave towards home we came upon 16Z stopped "in the hole" at White Siding.....and a SD80MAC was the 4th of 4 NS!! I was stunned to see it, had no idea one was in the Memphis area. We stopped for a minute while I took a few photos and a video of the big 80MAC, and then later after A01 met 16Z I caught 16Z in Germantown, I was surprised to see the SD80MAC was online. The next day, I woke up early and turned on the scanner and heard a 73Z, empty TVA coal train, was on the way west, nearing Rossville. So I went out to see it...but then headed back home when I heard that the lead unit on 73Z - NS 7597 - was having problems and 73Z had gone into emergency at Rossville. Later in the morning they switched the power on the wye at Rossville...and after meeting 16Z @ noon there 73Z finally got to come west to Memphis.....and I was surprised to see that a new NS ET44AC was leading!! My first one I've caught in service. The local crew brought the train from Rossville to Memphis because the other crew had timed out, !@ 8:06 you can hear the conductor say hi on the scanner. :D Then later in the afternoon I saw on Facebook that a 66K, train of new BEELMAN hopper cars, was coming west towards Memphis with two Canadian Pacific GE's for power. I headed out to see it, and after waiting for about 30 minutes here it comes! The lead unit had its cab door open & was smokin' it up. Only the 3rd time I've caught CP this year. Sorry about the "stability problems" at 10:45. :P A few other trains are also shown in this video, NS M6A with one of the 11 SD90's currently in service for NS, trailing. A 736 with a CITIRAIL as 2nd DPU, and a few other trains. Watch in 1080p and enjoy!!
