This month; how to react when the adult son of a female elderly client leaves his firearm in the dishwasher. He lives in the house with his elderly mother. Here is what was brought up in the discussion: 1) The importance of a thorough pre-service home assessment. 2) Include the category of firearms to the assessment/intake form. 3) Reviewed the steps to protect the caregiver from a potential hostile work environment. 4) Reviewed how to engage and work with home health agency (or any other provider) that was also visiting the home of the female client.
