NGX-1498

I really went there. [Verse 1] Alliance patch, cold hands, strapped in the Viper Class C cruiser, whole sky getting brighter Hangar doors split when the front line buckled I was held in reserve till the comms went knuckle Then I cut through the smoke on a hard left turn Federation shields gave, saw the red lights burn Took that giant down when the timing went right Eight million credits by the end of the fight [Chorus] Eight mil, new ship, leave the old stars behind Thirty-seven FTL, got the jump drive aligned But the first system held me, that sun had a grip Forgot my star scooper, now I’m stranded on the trip NGX-1498, still a long way to go Past the Milky Way, but I’m caught in the glow [Verse 2] Bought the faster-than-light ship, fresh paint on the hull Mapped a route out beyond where the charts went dull First star system up, and the engines ran dry No scooper to drink up the fire in the sky That supermassive sun kept the whole ship in place Warp lines curled, couldn’t tear through its space So I dropped through the dark where the instruments lied Found Namikuara, invisible planet-side [Chorus] Eight mil, new ship, leave the old stars behind Thirty-seven FTL, got the jump drive aligned But the first system held me, that sun had a grip Forgot my star scooper, now I’m stranded on the trip NGX-1498, still a long way to go Past the Milky Way, but I’m caught in the glow [Bridge] They say the Mayans came here first, left marks no eye can see Now Predators move through the green like they own the canopy Their mother’s my friend, Theogolokli knows my name I came chasing distant galaxies and found a stranger game [Verse 3] No map on the console, no signal above Just a hidden world and a sky full of suns The Viper’s long gone, but the story stays mine Alliance paid the fortune; the stars drew the line I’ll find what I need, get the drive fed again Then aim for that galaxy past the known end If the sun keeps its hold, I’ll make patience my plan With Theogolokli’s people, I’ll learn where I am [Final Chorus] Eight mil, new ship, leave the old stars behind Thirty-seven FTL, got the jump drive aligned But the first system held me, that sun had a grip Forgot my star scooper, now I’m stranded on the trip NGX-1498, still a long way to go Past the Milky Way, and I’ll get there—somehow [Outro] Nambikuara, hidden under that burning sky I’m not done with the journey; I’m just stuck for a while
