Yet, Nigeria is nowhere to be found in global export market of yam while Ghana contributes 94 percent in yam export from the African Continent The inability of Nigeria to take its rightful place in the global yam export market is unacceptable and to reposition Nigeria in the yam export market, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recently organized a workshop to address factors that militate against export of yam from Nigeria.
