Scarecrow Hunting in a Haunted Welsh Woods | Ghosts & Folklore of Wales | With Paranormal Unpacked

Join me and the Paranormal Unpacked team as we head back to Penllergare Valley Woods, Swansea, and go in search of scarecrows dotted among the trees. There's folklore - dare I say folk horror - along with history to be discovered lurking in the woods. From unusual scarecrow creations and their place in rural life to Worzel Gummidge and Batman's Scarecrow, there's plenty to explore. Along the way, we discover an old woodland spring, explore the ruins of former workers' homes, and encounter some remarkable trees - very Sleepy Hollow at times. We also discuss why scarecrows have become such a feature of community festivals, their place in horror films and literature, and the curious relationship between scarecrows and fear (I'm looking at you, Dr Jonathan Crane!). Oh, and we try - and fail - to catch a falling lead. Miserably. This is the second of my adventures filming at Penllergare Valley Woods with Paranormal Unpacked this autumn, and for a spookier adventure in the Welsh woodlands, check out the previous "Haunted Woods" video - and better yet, check out the official Paranormal Unpacked documentary, which will be available to watch before Halloween. So if you fancy some Welsh folklore, ghost stories, Gothic culture, folk horror, haunted history and all the usual shenanigans, step once more in the woods.... 👻 Paranormal Unpacked: Look out for the team's full paranormal investigation at Penllergare Valley Woods, coming in time for Halloween. 📍 Penllergare Valley Woods, Swansea, Wales ------------- For more ghosts, folklore and cultural adventures, follow Mark Rees on: Website: https://markreesonline.com/ Books: https://markreesonline.com/books/ Facebook:   / reviewwales   Instagram:   / reviewwales   Full list of social media sites and contact here: https://markreesonline.com/contact/ Newsletter: https://markreesonline.com/newsletter/ #Folklore #Halloween #Wales #Scarecrows #Swansea
