190 Year Old Abandoned Cottage Turned Into a Dream Home

Decades of rain and encroaching roots had completely consumed this stone building before anyone touched it. What started as a massive historical structural repair quickly became the most magical property makeover we have ever undertaken. First, we had to clear mature trees growing directly inside the living room and rebuild the entirely collapsed roof tile by tile. From there, the abandoned stone cottage restoration took shape, bringing the heavy masonry back to life and laying authentic terracotta floors in the sage green kitchen. The true heart of this forest refuge transformation, however, sits at the top of the old stone turret: a curved botanical library wrapped in polished walnut and emerald greens. Every detail was crafted to balance rustic decay with warm luxury interior design, like the sunken river-stone thermal bath and the cast-iron stove.
