Chris Peckings of Peckings Records Shop takes us on a personal journey through Jamaican music, from the early sound systems in Kingston to the rise of ska, rocksteady, roots reggae and lovers rock in London, in the latest Listening Room session at 180 Studios. The son of George Price, aka Peckings, who worked closely with Studio One founder Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd, Chris pulls together family memories and rare records whilst exploring the ties between Jamaica's sound system culture and London's Caribbean communities. The Listening Room is an ongoing series from The Vinyl Factory in which artists, selectors and writers explore music through focused listening and archival research. www.thevinylfactory.com   / peckings   More from The Listening Room: A History of R&B with Jordss:    • A History of R&B with Jordss | The Listeni...   A Life of Lovers Rock with Linett Kamala:    • A Life of Lovers Rock with Linett Kamala |...   The Cosmic World of Lonnie Liston Smith with Lovie:    • The Cosmic World of Lonnie Liston Smith wi...
